LCT Where it Should Have Always Been

Post by GasGuzzler »

I've been partners on this machine for years. Hardly ever used it. Partner quit, bought out his whole stash. It's on MY bench now. Just needs fine set up for a run of .223 Remington/CFE223/55 gr ballistic tips.

NICE!

I use this Lee Bin and Bracket mounted to the front edge of my benches next to my presses using wood screws. I like them and the bins are easily removed when not in use. They also put the brass and bullets in a convenient location.

I have LOTS of coffee cans. They're not free because we use the coffee.

I label stuff with masking tape. Notice?

When working smoothly I was getting a round every 20-30 seconds. It took nearly two hours to load 50 .223 Rem.

I had a problem with every single aspect of this thing. Maybe it's all worked out.

I've taken to pre priming brass, eliminating the need to prime on the press. For me, it makes the operation go smoother.

+1 on the pre prime. I find the hand primers much faster than the safety prime. Also when loading cast bullets I use the first stage to flair the case with an M die, 2ond stage powder 3rd seat bullet and 4th crimp.

Safety prime had some primers flipped in it. Spilled some fixing it. Safety prime works fine for me usually. I do prime off press for single stage. Primer lever in the ram was hanging up. Some stoning and some Vaseline fixed that.

Crushed a few case mouths until I finally read directions on setting the charge die AND figured out my size die (brass was already sized, deprimed, trimmed) was undersizing.

Took it apart and cleaned wads of old gunk out of it.

Once got ahead of myself and put a bullet in place on charge stage, stuck the bullet (anything but .224 would have been an easy fix) in the bottom of the Auto Disc. Took the measure off the extract the offending projectile and dumped half the hopper on my bench.

Screwed up the set up on the seater. Fixed it with common sense.

Screwed up the set up on the collet die. Fixed it with common sense.

Then came minor adjustments. I think I'll load a few more to take advantage of all my time overcoming set up errors.

GasGuz that was a GREAT post! :D I also own 99.9% of all my problems in life and reloading. But is is much more fun to %@*&$, complain and gripe about why it is the products fault. How else could Lee Haters find satisfaction? That is why I like my tag lines below.
