Back when we were hauling around young grand kids my wife and I would refer to whatever weapon we had in the car as 'Walter' to avoid piquing their interest. I don't remember how that name came to be the one we used, but questions like "Did you lock Walter up?" were common and the kids were never the wiser. The word gun always created interest.

Just one - a Ruger 77/357. I like a lit of Ruger stuff but that one rubbed me wrong every which way.

Numerous names, none of which are appropriate for mixed audiences.

I can't even bring myself to use the cutsie and diminutive names for things, guns especially. Every time I read or hear "shotty," it's like nails on a chalk-board. That's just too cute a name for something as serious as a shotgun.

Hey, why does everybody leave poor old Ruger out? Shouldn't there be a "Roogy?" ;)

Because "get the BlackHawk" sounds like you're sending out for a UH-60 and an M2 .
