PPM Thread Info

Post by AWBoyer »

Hi,

Can someone tell me what the thread size of the thimble on the PPM is?

My threads seem to be very tight on my unit. After looking at the threads, they look crushed and was thinking if I could run a rethreaded tap through the threads to clean them up, the thimble may spin easier.

I tried a friend's and his spins very easy.

Thanks,
Antonio

Are you talking about the small metal piece that the Micrometer rod "screws" into for charge adjustment or the rod itself?

Hi Horseman,

They should be the same thread size (pitch and diameter) but I was asking about the small metal piece that screws onto the rod.

I emailed Lee about this and they replied the thread is 3/8"-32 which is an odd pitch and not part of my standard tap & die kit.

Yeah, interesting. I bet it would be easy to find though.

Hi Ranch Dog,

I was able to find them on Amazon. Even found an American made one.

I am assuming they used that pitch to get the fine adjustment needed to regulate grains.

Probably so. When you think about it, this might be where it all starts, "To make this work, we need an adjustable chamber, pitched to deliver..."
