My reloading bench and man cave under construction

Post by rdvance »

I got to reading and decided i wanted a bench i could stand or sit on a bar stool to reload/work on guns watch the game although the tv is on the other side of the room. It also meant i had to move my tool box. Just so happened by taking out the two closet walls where the door was would be perfect fit for it beside the safe already in there. I decided on the height and kinda feel i went and inch or so to high but i got some of that foam from HF to put down that should help some. But dont mind the mess its a work in progress. Id love for any feed back etc on reloader mount location. my plan is about the middle of the bench a little to the left probably.

Is a reloading bench even finished??? I see in my crystal ball a lengthening of this bench in the future. ;)

Most people end up with their bench too low to the ground IMO. When my steel bench comes home I can move all the non-gun stuff off the reloading bench so then I'll have one bench to cast, one to reload or repair firearms, and one as a "regular" work bench.

I would probably stick my press mounts right in the corner and add a leg there . But I've been known to make 358 Win from 30-06' and several x57-58s too so my leverage needs are higher than others sometimes .

I keep reloading benches, reloading benches, period. Not to say that reloading benches don't don't see all kinds of work tools on and around them when modifications are required. Two are dedicated to reloading and one to gun cleaning, chores and DIY projects. On that one a fantastic versatile vise is mounted.

Every one of them is different in height.
Fortunately some genius invented a adjustable height swivel stool. This stool is great equalizer of benches and project being accomplished on them. Sometimes I want to be eye level, sometimes I like to look down on the activity incharge on my devotion. 8-)

I made the top of mine about even with my elbows. My arms form a 90* angle when resting palms down on the bench top. I then got a screw height adjustable stool for $30 from FleaBay and 'tune' it to each particular press as needed.

Ive thought of that too. Its pretty stout right there anyway i put a 2x4 leg up the wall on both sides and screwed into studs. I can put all my weight (measley 150lbs thanks to pancreatitus) on it and it not give at all. But i may put the press there anyway. I was gonna put a leg there until i realized how strong it was all ready. Plus i was afraid it would get in the way of my legs.
