Lee Lube and Size on Load Master press

Post by jloader »

I'm absolutely new to casting.
Will use Lee micro groove mold for 38SP casting.
Question is for sizing. I'm planning on purchasing the Lee Size and Lube .358 but I do not want to spend $$ on single stage press. I want to see if I can mount the sizer on Load Master and disable the indexer to prevent shell holder plate from rotating.
Lee specifies that the Size and Lube is for use on single stage press.
Any ideas from the experienced loaders here?
Thanks in advance.

Lee's support sent me a very quick reply to same question:

"No, unfortunately it can not. The Sizing Punch in the Lube & Size Kit takes the place of a shell holder on the single stage presses. With the Loadmaster, there is no where for that Punch to be installed."

I guess my question has been answered, but maybe someone here found a workaround that would cost less than $50 (cost of single stage press frame).

A pre owned single stage .......

You may not have to size at all for 38 special ,short ,long or S&W , especially with the tumble lube bullet.

40 bucks OK?

I got mine for reforming primer pockets in the first place. But that didn't work the way I wanted, so it's just sitting there. Sending it over wouldn't make any sense, though, because of the insane shipping costs, I'm sorry.

I've got one of those ^^^^. I paid $20 for it. I use it for oopsies. It would work fine for sizing lead.

There's several on eBay. CLICK HERE

I've found a video with a guy making an adapter for it for the Load Master.

I've send that as a suggestion to Lee to possibly make such an adapter.

I've sized a whole slew of cast bullets with my Lee Hand Press. It's a little awkward, but it's not an ordeal. I saw photos of a feller who mounted his hand press upside down and sized bullets fell into a padded container. It seemed a lot easier to use and sizing went fairly quickly...
