Ben's LL

Post by Old Scribe »

Question for those who have used the BLL for cast bullets. I have used this lube with good success. Having prepped some 9mm bass to try a different cast bullet, I find my BLL is dried out.
I've tried placing the plastic squirt bottle in very hot water... no luck. I'm not sure I want to try the microwave, a lot of plastic melts. I've kept it in a plastic condiment squirt bottle with the cap on. Not tight enough I guess.
Any body know haw I can save this and "re-liquid" the lube?

I've "remelted' it with odorless mineral spirits, it ook a lot. I've also learned to empty the contents of my ketchup bottle into a Mason Jar. The bottle doesn't seal well enough for storage, but the jar is airtight.

Where are you finding Johnson's One Step No buff Wax? Is there a good replacement/substitute?

There is a replacement, but I don't remember what it is. I have one can and it should last me a long time as I mostly Hi-Tek or powder coat.
I found it

Lundmark liquid paste wax 35%
alox 30%
Mineral Spirits 35%

This being heavy in Mineral Spirits will cause evaporation and/or escape thru some porous plastic containers' walls. For long term storage, keep in small jars with tight lids. Adding some Mineral Spirits and remixing should get you right back to the correct consistency.

I put mine in nearly boiling water. Takes several minutes to soften.
