I just ordered this newer revised edition. Apparently it has an updated section on reduced loads and a few other additions and changes. There is also a "Final Chapter" in this revision. I wonder what that is about and what the changes are?

Waiting for the report. I'm sure it will be in my next order from Titan or MidwayUSA. The Final Chapter is that might not be printing another. Just a guess on my part.

I'm really searching through books (Lee 2nd edition) , ect. and there's scant to no information on loading the 458 Socom with cast. Anybody got any suggestions? I'm most interested in subsonic loads with Lee 457-500RF

It sounds like you need to consider QuickLoad.

I've also looked into getting QL, but the expense is kinda out of my league right now.
Thanks

If you can give me the bullet length, to verify what is in QuickLoad, and the cartridge OAL you plan to shoot, I will run the data. Oh, your barrel length.

Michael; I received a QL data sheet for Re7 and the Lee 457-500 cast just this morning from a friend on another site. It's what I needed, except I have to pick up Re7 tomorrow from Powder Valley ( I live 40 miles from them).
On another front, I'm looking for a mold to cast a ~350gr bullet that I can HP after the fact. Looking real hard at NOE's RD 460-350RF. Think that will work?

I'm really not sure as I don't have any experience with the 458 Socom. The 460-350-RF has a crimp groove and I don't know how the nose settles in with that cartridge's overall length requirements.

I understand; it's part of the problem I'm having in finding good load data. Most of what I find doesn't even reference OAL. I'm going to stick with info from those that presently load and shoot the 458 Socom. Basically I'm just looking for a couple of loads (for now); one subsonic and one that buzzes out at 15 to 16 hundred feet per.
Thanks for your help.
