HEY YALL

Post by JSJJ388 »

Glad to be on the forum. I got started reloading about 6 months ago to build hunting rounds and have more ammo for my AR-15, but have since picked up reloading 30-30s and will soon load .243s. I live in the foothills of NC and have shot since I was 2 1/2 years old. I have a lee single stage

Welcome!

So you got into this to save money?
I've heard that before .
I saved so much last year I'm only down about $300 .
On the other hand I did run about $150 worth ,at market value , through 1 rifle and about $200 worth in a pistol and companion rifles for $65 . I did have to buy another mould and sizing dies so I guess there is closer to $180 in that . 6 boxes of 45 Colts and 3 boxes of 264 WM it adds up in a hurry, not so quick with 38 ,9mm a 223.

Not really to save money but to shoot more for the same money. Also, I have an uncle that reloads and his press fascinated me when I was younger so after I got my AR and settled into my job, I bought a Lee kit. Now, I go shoot so that I have brass for reloading.

Herzlich willkommen from Germany, too!

With LEE equipment it is possible to save money on reloading. But only if you do not increase your shooting... most people just shoot more for the same money.

I do from time to time! I only have about 1500 cases laying around for .223 so it goes quick

I don't shoot near that . With cheap ammo at $12-18 /20 for rifle and $36-74 /for pistols it adds up pretty quick when you can put it together for $11-16 /100 .

I don't know that I shoot to load but I most certainly load to shoot . Having several cartridges that range from not available to cost prohibitive to shoot for any sort of proficiency casting and hand loading is a huge asset . I expect for a volume consumer of even inexpensive ammo the payback is about the same .

When I shoot, its a couple hundred at a time. But I like to keep a stockpile of ammo and components in case it turns ugly.
