Return to Paradise

Post by flgunner »

Old time Lee reloader(since 2011, but I started late). Reloaded several thousand pistol and BLK rounds, but just bought my .223 dies and trimmer, so though I had better check in with the experts to keep the explosions contained  .

Welcome to forum .
I think as far as expert goes you're giving me extra credit.

Pretty hard to blow up a 223 . Easier with what you've been loading.

Best fail safe ? 1 and only 1 can of powder at a time anywhere near the bench .
You can't and original Colts SAA with a compressed load of H322 ,4198, H335 but a full case of H110 I'm pretty sure will jam a case and blow primers in a 223 .

Herzlich willkommen from Germany!

I can only second RBHarter: Never ever give yourself the chance to mix up powders without noticing. A good way to avoid KBs is to use a powder that physically doesn't allow double charges.

Near 50 years ago when I started I think the best advise I got was to always try to work 100% loadings but stay at least 70%. You'll spill powder in a double charge that way. I believe one can at a time on the bench should go without saying. Pretty sure double charge and wrong powder blow up more guns than any other causes.

Make smoke,
Curt.......makin' smoke and raising my carbon foot print one cartridge at a time +guns +guns
