First Casting Session..

Post by larryw »

+guns Yea baby +guns First casting session today, The smoke from a giant mulch
fire 2 miles away finally went another direction & let me outside today.
My old used & abused Lee 10 pounder did great & YES did leak
But that's OK, It works, & for what I gave in trade, I love it!!
All 3 of the molds I got in that trade I did not have much hope for
they are all 3 in pretty rough shape, but surprisingly worked great.
That is until the spru plate screw stripped out of the Lee & the
plate went airborne?? I did not think the Ideal 358 156 would work
at all, looks like someone hit it a good one with a hammer right on
the edge of the parting line, I thought it was gonna have fins like
a fish, but it didn't???? Here are some pics, If I can get them to work.
Not perfect by any means, not pretty, except to me, & to me, they
are beautimus. :D :D

RD & Chev, Thank's a bunch. Got a long way to go with this,
like after I got all the little imperfections in the side I nose
pretty well licked ( you can see it in the pics) no matter what I did
with the heat or tin, the edges are still not as sharp as they should be
some are just flat rounded?
I'll get it. Hey, I'm surprised these molds did as good as they did
let alone work at all. (Same could be said for me LOL) I'm happy :D :D

good looking bullets ... I especially like the button nosed wad cutters. I've become real fond of them in my 38/357's

No one has mentioned it Larry but I use this soap to clean my hands with after messing with any of this stuff.

Another thing that I do, in that I'm such a "heavy" lead bullet caster and shooter, is have my doc include the "lead panel" in my annual blood work. At my clinic, it doesn't cost anything extra. They just need to know to run it.

I've always come up really clean, cleaner than anything my doc has seen when these panels have been requested and he feels that it is because I am so conscious of what I'm working with. My numbers are always zip.
