I always figured +p ?? I'll just use a Magnum ???
I do recall, many moons ago when +p was the newest rage, the Smith I was working
under got loads & loads of revolvers damaged (shot loose) &/or tweaked from a steady
diet of +p. But that was before the advent of +p rated revolvers. Hey, just my 2 cents.

I find this +P and +P+ stuff interesting. My Ruger SR9 say's it's ++ rated, whatever that means. I haven't found ANY load data that says +P or +P+. Are you supposed to just interpolate data as in if 6gr. HS6 is a max load for 115gr 9mm at 35,000psi (this is just a for instance fella's, not REAL DATA) Then 6.5gr would/could be a +P load at, oh say, 36,000psi and on and on. Well you get my drift. I'm not looking to go there and all it really tell's me is that the gun is/should be strong enough to handle a (regular) max load without issue. Actually, not even sure it tells me that either. But it makes a good selling point I guess. Just what the hE!! does it mean. :?:

+P = kill something deader than dead. ++P is just for zombies? :P

Possibly because I've never much looked for them, but I don't recall seeing +P loads in any published manual, A few articles in Handloader maybe but not much.

Lee second has +P for 38 Special & 45 Colt (Ruger & Contender Only.
Speer has the same.
Hornady has 45 Colt (Ruger & Contender only)
Nosler has 45 Colt (Ruger & Contender only)
Those little One Book/One Caliber for 38 Spec has +P for Speer bullets.
Yep, there is published info out around.
But, Like I said before, if I need +P I'll use a 357 Mag..

^^^^^^ yes, the maker of the powder in the topic has a +P load for caliber in the topic (where the OPs numbers came from) hence my original comment about how low the powder charge and MV is.

3.9 bullseye is a sneeze for my Blackhawk and verboten for my Rossi .38 only M88. As stated, all variables make difference (see magnum primer topic). I use a grain more than that in 9mm (with a lighter bullet of course) in a P95.
