45 acp, LCT, never had this issue before, all are the same headstamp, NNY....any thoughts?

Well first off you forgot to put bullets in two of them....Yea, not funny. (kinda) At what point in the sequence does this happen? I'm thinking crimp but I have no idea why. Not seen that before. I need to look at the picture again and cogitate on it some more....uhh, what does nny mean? Headstamp? Looks like you tried to seat a 45 bullet with a 40 die but I'm sure that's not the issue. Really crappy brass? Neck sizing? Wildcatting a 45-40....I sure hope someone has better ideas than mine cause' I haven't a clue unless you know which die is the cause. If it's the crimp die you'd have to be shovin' that case a long way up there, even if that's possible?

Privi Partisan brass. More info required. Looks like wrong size die being used for sizing and then the case is being swaged down by a crimpong die but I am just guessing.

Those cases wouldn't happen to have a weird little ledge inside the
case would they?
There is some brass out there, don't remember brand of caliber,
I know it's auto loader ammo but, it has reduced internal capacity starting
about 1/3rd of the way down in the case.
Are you seating & crimping in one of two steps?

Hard to say without more information from the OP as to what point this is happening.

Lee Classic Turret press, this happened on the third stage during seating, crimping with factory crimp die on fourth stage, however didn’t get there. Only happened with this headstamp, inspected inside the cases, no ridges, readjusted the bullet seating die twice, the remainder of this batch was spot on, no anomaly’s. This is odd, been loading 45 acp for 30 years and this is a first.

In that, they are cast bullets, what size are they and how are you handling the case mouth expansion? My first look at them suggested to me that there is none or not enough expansion.

Could you post a pic of the head stamp ?

I think I found my answer on the HighRoad forum, apparently this brass has had issues in the past and from what I read the case walls are thin and collapse easily, so for me they are a strong no, I’m culling my brass and will trash what’s left, thanks all for your input.

NNY ~ Prvi Partizan-Namenska Proizvodnja, Titovo, Uzice 31000, Yugoslavia. These are actually Cyrillic letters equal to "PPU" in the Western alphabet.

I use PPU commercial brass with all my pistols, haven't had any problems. It has become my #1 choice with rifles as well.

I'm still curious about the last question I asked, the expansion of the case mouth. Also, I can't tell from the picture, is it a large or small primer?
