Crush washer replaced and qty. 500 PP 7.62X39 (310") FMJSP ordered from G&S.

I had a guy send me some Lyman 31141's as a throw in on a cheap deal for .30 gas checks but I'm not sure if those will work OK in an AK.

My guess on the Lyman 31141 is not. Way too long for the short case neck and throat of the 7.62x39.

Yeah but I might try them with some 2400 in .30-30.

Sold it unfired (see below). I have the Lee C312-155-2R on it's way. Gonna make my own instead of buying more PPU. After I'm done with settling on 300BLK loads, I'll come back to 7.62X39.

The proceeds from the sale plus another build in .223W got me the Evil Roy posted elsewhere and the parts to build a 300BLK pistol that's now done (and still have money left over for the 300BLK dies, C312-155-2R mold, the 45 mold I bought from RD, the 250 pieces of 300BLK brass I bought online, mold handles, etc.).

I need two more 4-hole turrets, two more auto-PM's and some other stuff.

Anyway.....

I will go to the appropriate topic or start a new one on 300BLK but I plan on using the C312-155-2R for both guns (AK-47 variant and 300BLK pistol).....as dropped likely for the AK and sized to .310 for the AR.

Looks like I sold the 300BLK pistol already. I'm waiting for my spire point top punch to come in for my LAMII so I can lube and check the Lee 312-155-2R's I cast the other day for 7.62.

So i was rhinking about lead alternatives and Wiki tells me the standard diameter for 7.62x39 is .312 so Couldnt one use these from MBC http://missouribullet.com/details.php?p ... secondary= at .312 caliber?

Or alternatively since were talking lead how about these http://missouribullet.com/details.php?p ... secondary= at .313 although they are a little on the hard side at 18BHN so id be worried about pressure

Finally theres these http://missouribullet.com/details.php?p ... secondary= at .311 that seem a little too undersized
No thin chicks

The SAAMI spec for the cartridge is a .310" groove. It is not all about the groove though as there is some freebore in the chamber that needs to be addressed and that is why a .313" bullet should be considered.

You did not mention the rifle you will be loading for, or I missed it. Personally, I would not consider a bullet unless it is gas checked. If it is a semi-auto, it's going to depend on pressure to cycle the action. My TLC313-150-RF for my Mini-30 is cast with 60/40 wheel weights/linotype and water quenched for 21 BHN. My 26.6-grain load generates about 40.4K PSI.

Sorry GRV01, none of the MBC offerings get my attention and none of them are specifically for the 7.62x39.

I made 300BLK out of a 7.62X39 bullet today so maybe an experiment is in order although I'm sure RD is correct. I couldn't get to the crimp groove on my experiment even though I loaded them 0.020" short (and 20% under start load).

I had an SKS that would chamber a 323-175 sized 323 that was a loose slip fit in a fired case . The barrel was .305×3165 and was comfortable with the 318 nose well into the throat .
