310gr lee fn and 2400

Post by todddoyka »

i'm want use 2400(with dacron if needed) and a 310gr lee fn for my tc encore with a 23" MGM barrel in 444 marlin. i still have to buy the mould but i'm wondering if 16.0gr of 2400 is a good starting point?

my velocity should be in 1500-1600fps range. and i'll be hunting deer with it out to 150 yards. 50 yards and less will be most likely.

i am using 2400 because i have so much of it.

I can't speak for tc encore but I also shoot a lot of 2400 with cast bullets in my milsurps. If is a very versatile powder. Ed Harris did a great service when he published his article on the Universal Load.

I have .357 loads with 16gr of 2400 under heavy for cal bullets. Sounds a little light for a .444 but I ain't no scientist.
