Oh, btw, the 9x80 drilling is an extremely lightweight, exposed hammer 16x16 by 9x80mm that opens with an underlever that pivots forward at its attachment right at the leading edge of the trigger guard. It has no nitro proof marks so appears to be from the late 1800s. Gebruder Kneifel Gewehrfabrik from the town of Mehlis, Thuringen is the maker.
Some day, (!) I'll start posting pics.

Got to the range today. Fired 10 checked lead and 5 wrapped jacketed with just water and 5 wrapped with a glue and water mix. FPS for all averaged 2100. Lead shot everywhere but no keyholing, water only wrapped jacketed was just as bad but the glued on wrapped jacketed gave a 4 in spread at 50 yards that was an almost perfect horizontal string. I think this old warrior needs slow speeds in the 14-1600 range to put sufficient spin on bullet. Going to load some glue wrapped with Trail Boss and see how I make out.

So I finally got to shoot the last PP in my 8mm Mauser. 20.0 grains of IMR4227 max 1482 fps, min. 1416 fps. At 50 yards they all missed the 14x8.5 inch target. Not sure what happened as the last lot were not that bad but traveling much faster. They all hit the berm. Think this trial is a wash.
