I think bag balm is anhydrous lanolin. That is very good stuff for many reloading applications, lubes, bullet lubes, Eds Red, and chapped skin. I'm sure there are more.

I just bought a fresh tube of LEE case lube last fall, so I'm set for another twenty years, but I like having back-up options.

Sorry Jeff, I never saw this.. I just wipe it off with a rag, but just a tiny tiny dampening of the fingers is all that is required... so not much to wipe..

Ha! I just had a 5.56 case get stuck in an RCBS sizing die the other day. Actually It had a case head separation leaving a partial case in the die. I removed the decapping/expanding pin, and used a broken shell extractor on it...... it ripped the rim off of the extractor!

So as I tend to take a ham fisted approach to everything, put the die in my trusty rock chucker from the bottom, and get a crowbar from my garage. I figured I'd sure a heck get that sucker out.


NOPE! I broke the shell extractor off in the die !

My new die set should be arriving in today's mail, I guess I'm sending this one off to RCBS to see if they can save it.

I'll be looking into that bag balm to try out

I'll check tonight, but it think it was either Malaysian Surplus or Izzy.

It was well lubed with Frankford Arsenal spray..... Never had a case stick on me before

Yup, sounds like me. I would very much like to have been there to see this. I would have sat in the corner (out of range) being veeeery quiet. I would also like to be there when RCBS gets the die and see their faces and hear THAT discussion... Sometimes it's just best to quit when you're "behind"...we never do of course... I'm kinda of the school of a bigger cheater bar or hit it harder method. Sometimes it even works. Hey, let us know what RCBS says..

Marked 'WCC 81' (Olin)

Not sure where I got that one from, perhaps range brass from Ft. Dix?

I used to shoot there before I moved to Ohio, back in '05

When I run out of Imperial I may just try the Bag Balm, although I have another product at hand that is used religiously by my Victorian Riflemen chums who shoot a lot of .577 Snider and .577-450 Martini --Udderly Smooth, a lanolin-based skin cream. But they dip their bullet noses in it just before loading and firing for outstanding BP fouling control. I bet it would work just fine as a case lube as well. Will try it.
