First Hog for 2016!
Killed a very nice sow about 8:30 last night. She was wandering with five other large sows. Made the 85 yard shot with my 1949 Remington 722 chambered in 300 Savage and she dropped like a rock.
Used the Speer 150-grain HCRN (#2017), pushed with 42.0-grains of Varget at 2635 FPS. This might be the last jacketed bullet kill for this rifle as it is on the short list for load work with my TLC310-165-RF bullet that I designed for this cartridge.

Re: First Hog for 2016!
Thanks guys!
My neighbor and I just finished cutting it up. I'm meat rich with two deer in the freezer but this family of six can make short use of it. With three boys 13 through 18, it will well taken care of.

Re: First Hog for 2016!
That makes me laugh. My wife bought two as a trial at HEB, a South Texas grocery store chain and hated them because they chip easily. I love them and wouldn't let her throw them away. Shape is perfect, everything in my mind is perfect!Maximumbob54 wrote:Even your dishes are fancier than mine!!!
