Another Hog!

Post by Ranch Dog »

Looked outside about 9:30 last night and there was two boar hogs at the lighted yard feeder. Tried to let them line up for a 2FER but think I only got this one. Shot with the Savage 340 Scout & TLC311-170-RF at 80 yards. Hog went straight down and out. You are looking at the entry side.

I'm really enjoying this little rifle and the light load. I have to trim the brass back to 2.00" in order to match the crimp groove. I've been doing this with a Lyman trimmer but went ahead and special ordered a case trimmer from lee at this length. Probably could have filed the pin down on a standard 30-30 Win trimmer but I only have one available and will keep it as is.

They just keep coming

I've always wanted a 30-30 bolt gun, maybe someday.

Good going, RD. That would have been fun going for a 2FER. :D :D

Thanks! I guess I did not get the 2FER, no large gathering of buzzards.

Nice shot RD. I really enjoy reading about your hog removals here and on RossiRifleman. We have mule deer in our yard and the occasional mountain lion on their tails, but not bacon on the hoof. Certainly one of the major food groups.

Funny you mention RR... my little Rossi carbines are getting jealous as I've been exercising my other rifles.
