I wonder what they're planning on doing? I believe USDA prohibits the selling of wild pork in grocery stores.

Sounds like you need a dart gun. Sell them some of those squeelers!

You can take them, the hogs, to any auction here in South Texas and commercial feedlots buy them. They are kept on approved feed for a certain amount of time and are sold as pork.

There are brokers that gather hogs from guys like me and they take them to the local auctions. The big buyers are not interested in buying small lots of hogs, they want to buy a semi-load of them.

So are you interested in trapping them or darting them for this purpose? Sounds interesting and potentially dangerous. The Hawaii wild boar grow some nasty vicious tusk. I've seen many a dog ripped to shreads by wild pigs. A few close calls myself.

The hogs would be caught in traps or with dogs. Money wise, I've heard the net results are not worth the effort it takes, particularly on the land owners side. If you don't have a lot of land with a lot of hogs, remember you need holding pens to gather a sizeable lot of them. Feed costs for a hog, you don't want them loosing any weight once you have them, are high.

That station operator position looks like a good job for my mother-in-law. She'll be among friends. She's up here in NYS, about an hour from us. I'll put her on a bus and send her down. God bless Texas.
