Surplus Persian 8mm Mauser

This stuff is among the only surplus 8mm available. And it's garbage!!! I bought the smaller bulk that came in a smaller free ammo can. Turns out the ammo can was the best part of the deal. My buddy and I only managed to shoot about twenty of them before we just gave up. Duds, hang fires, and more with very few regular bangs.

So I'm just telling everyone that I bought an ammo can that came with free ammo shaped paper weights...

Please scrub/wash that barrel.
It just might be corrosive primers!

Mercury salts are highly hygroscopic and the first 6-10" of the barrel will take on a sandblasted look if left untreated (if it is corrosive primers that is!)
Dont ask me how i know but lets just say that there is one less M1889 Swedish RB with a mint bore out there Image

It's always worth it if you've already lost your money ........ metaphorically.

Pull the bullets its probably loaded with moisture contaminated cordite. If you can get a decent rifle powder you could still salvage those old boys.

The bore and parts were washed in hot water and re-oiled upon completion, so no worries on corrosion.

I thought about pulling some bullets and swapping the powder out but they are Berdan primed so I won't be swapping those out. I could do it but I just don't feel like messing with that many Berdan primers. For now they will just set in the back of the closet.

You don't have to pop the primers out just reload with a good powder. You can remove most primer punch pins from sizing dies. So you can sure them up. Only suggesting I hate taking a loose on ammo or money. Keep us posted if you do change out powder. I'm always curious to see how it goes
