3D Printed Primer Tray Funnel

Post by buckeye43210 »

This is a primer tray funnel. It makes loading square primer boxes into round primer trays easier. I took my measurements from a Federal primer box and one of the round Lee Auto Prime trays.

Yes, I was thinking about using a saucer to do a double flip, then I had one of those eureka moments...

Great idea! I always use a small box to dump the primers before they go into the round trays.

Can you send me the STEP file for that?

Sure, here's a link to the STL and SCAD files. FYI, the SCAD source file is ASCII text and is human readable...

You can also click on Open in Customizer to make small dimensional changes. I didn't take the time to work out the full mathematical relationships between the parts, so large dimensional changes may not work, but you won't hurt anything by playing around with the design.

Measure twice, and print as may times as you like :-)

Enjoy!

The intended use for this thing is to lower the square portion of the funnel over the top of an opened primer box, then invert a round primer tray over top of the ring portion of the funnel and carefully flipping everything over. You should now have a box of primers in your primer tray...

The German remixed my design to creat a Universal Primer Tray Funnel, and provided dimensions for RCBS primer trays.

Turns out Federal primer boxes are slightly larger than CCI primer boxes. Updated the instructions to elaborate on the differences, and added a Primer Box Spacer. The spacer accepts CCI primer boxes and allows them to work with the original funnel designed for Federal primer boxes.

Just added a Primer Tray Spacer. This ring slips on the lower part of the funnel and adapts it for use with the larger RCBS primer trays.

Enjoy!

Wow, you got very active on that 3D stuff... do you own a 3D printer?

I actually bought one some years ago, and it still sits NIB and waits for me to find a nice rainy day.

But I think the funnel will be one of my first parts I'll print. Maybe it happens this summer :D
