It's a case kicker. It ejects the case when he uses the press in single stage mode for batch processing.

I made my own just to see if it was worthwhile. It really does work very well but I rarely use it. I use a drill stop for the collar and as can be seen just a couple of springs stuck on screw, screwed in a drilled and taped hole in the drill stop. I got these parts from HF.

I just made a prototype ejector out of a paperclip.

You want it to be loose enough to slide up and down the index rod, but tight enough to maintain contact with the shell casing during each ejection cycle.

I made another one out of a thicker paper clip just in case :-)
