Ruger SR9C Rear Sight
looking for fiber optic rear sights for my Ruger sr9c. Front site is HiViz green dot. Not much choice out there. I'm looking at Novak with red dots and Meprolight that has only green dots. I don't think green front and rear is a good choice. Does anyone have experience with either of these sights or suggestions on any others?
Thanks--Poppop

I carry a Kahr CW9 with Trij sights .... green, front and back. and they work fine for me. My old 97-98 model Kimber Compact has (not much glow left) tritium (green) front and rear night sights and have been great.

Re: Ruger SR9C Rear Sight
ShopRuger.com carries a good selection:
http://shopruger.com/Sights-Lights-Lase ... ucts/1383/
I would stick with whatever is more eye catching to you for the front sight and whatever for the rear. Since your front sight is the one you focus on the most of course.

Re: Ruger SR9C Rear Sight
Looked at ruger.com and they have the rear Novak red FO for $ 55.00 I also have a 20% disct with them which makes the price pretty good. The HiViz green front and Novak red rear should do the trick

Re: Ruger SR9C Rear Sight
I have the the Meprolite True Dot sights on one of my M&P 40c pistols. They are not lying about them being brighter than others. I have had Trigicon and Smith and Wesson's night sights and prefer the True Dot. Just green is all I have had, don't have any problem with same color dots. In the future I am going first for True Dot.
If a pistol points so poorly that a person could confuse front and rear dots they should get another pistol.
Hope this helps. And I think I misspelled the brand names.

Re: Ruger SR9C Rear Sight
Hi Guys
Update regarding rear sights.
Purchased the Meprolite sights and the Fisher Solutions tool.
Was able to remove old rear and install Meps with no problem. The front sight was a disaster. I reinstalled the original front sight with a red fluorescent paint. Now I have 2 green rear dots and a front red dot. Easy to pick up target. The sight tool was $60 and not a bad investment. It can also be used as a paperweight or door stop.
Now, with my lousy eyes, I'm able to shoot better groupings and closer to the bullseye.

Re: Ruger SR9C Rear Sight
I have had to file a little off the bottom of the dovetail on a couple front sights to get them in the slot. I was sweating bullets about taking too much off but it worked out ok. If a person took a little too much off lock-tight would save the day.

Re: Ruger SR9C Rear Sight
I did the filing of the bottom of the front sight and it did slip in approx. 1/2 the way but when I put pressure on it with the tool it cocked upwards a little. I tried this a few times until I decided to replace with the original and I'm glad I did - now I have 2 colors for better target acquisition.
Thanks all for your help
