Well, now you're going from brass cleaning to brass prepping.
Cleaning is a step in brass preparation. Many feel it's an essential part of brass prep and cannot imagine reloading without pristine, virgin looking, ultra glossy cases. I reloaded 12+ years before I got a tumbler and my first/second step in brass prep was done at the same time; wiping the case with a solvent dampened rag as I inspected it...

Just to be ornery, here is a list of 9mm varieties.

9x17mm - 9mm Browning short/Kurz/short/Courto/380 acp etc.
9x18 Ultra (WW2 and re-introduced in later years)
9x18 Makarov (larger - 9.2mm Russian developed)
9x19 Glisenti - dimensionally same as 9mm Luger loaded much lighter truncated bullets to differentiate from hotter 9mmluger/SMG loads.
9x19 - Luger/parabellum/nato/Patronen 08 etc.
9x21 Several similar rounds. Introduced in Italy where "military calibers" not allowed to private owners, another used in competitive shooting in USA to make major caliber.
9mm Browning Long (9x20~) Swedish, Spanish, and others
9mm Mauser (9x25) not experimental but saw wide use in Broomhandles and SMG's.
9x23mm - Bergman bayard, Campo Giro(?), Steyr
9mm Mars - experimental semi-production for the British Mars Series of Pistols. bottle necked load.

Good one daboone, I think you have them all covered. 9mm sure doesn't always mean 9mm.

Missed the 9mm Winchester Magnum / Grizzly . Basically a 38 +P+ in a 223 case trimmed to 1.160 "

May be known as 9×29 also .

Also missing:

- 9mm AE (Action Express), also known as 9x23 RB
- 9mm Bergmann Simplex
- 9mm Browning long
- 9x23 Campo Giro
- 9mm Danish Ordnance
- 9x19R Federal (a rimmed 9x19 variant)
- 9mm Flobert (I actually got a selfloading shotgun in that caliber)
- 9mm Frommer
- 9mm Japanese
- 9mm Lefaucheux
- 9mm Makarov (aka 9x18 Soviet)
- 9mm Mauser
- 9mm Mauser Export
- 9mm Nagant (aka 9x22 Bachmann)
- 9x17 (9mm Nickl or 9mm M.22)
- 9mm Steyr
- 9x23 Steyr
- 9x18 Ultra
- 9x21 IMI
- 9x22 Major
- 9x25 Super Auto G

... there are a LOT of 9mm cartridges out there.

One of the very few advantages of the German national firearms registry is the catalogs of gun manufacturers and cartridges they compiled. Unfortunately the files are too large to upload here. The catalog of cartridges alone is 126 pages long, listing 1793 entries (including known synonyms).

No offense or shaming intended .

I've been on a quest to see how many cases will fit in a chamber .

The list probably quads if you include all of the 38s and 357s in all of the rimmed , rebated or shouldered cases . There at least 9 or 10 from 38/38-200/S&W/short/Colts NP through 357 max , 357 SIG and I'm sure a few obscure 36s.

So the most common R92 by users here is .357. Maybe the most common diameter bullet is .356-.360. Funny thing is 12% of Internet forums talk about such. Maybe because .357 and 9mm are about the easiest to reload.

I'm seriously thinking about a R92 in .357, may have to join that site. 8-)
