Howa Mini Bolt 6.5 Grendel & 7.62x39
I was at my FFL and saw where the Mini Bolt is going to be made available in 6.5 Grendel & 7.62x39. They are are not on their website yet but I saw the fliers. I love my two 7.62x39 bolt guns and thought the Highlander was a good looking hunter and it will be available in several other finishes. Ten round magazines, 20" or 22" barrels. Don't know much about the 1500 but it looks good.

I believe Howa is responsible for the Weatherby Vanguard line .
I wonder if the x39 will be .312 or .308 and what twist?

All most an inch and a half shorter and lighter. I can see where that would make a difference or my Savage Axis in 308 with a long action.

I suspect that it will be to the SAAMI/CIP spec of .310" with the 1 to 9.45.RBHarter wrote:I wonder if the x39 will be .312 or .308 and what twist?

That's a slick little rig. Those chamberings are hard to find in a bolt gun, great for deer, and minimal recoil. They may be on to something.

I see a home for 311-230 and about 20 gr of 4350 depending on the mag well maybe as much as 24 for about 1650 and about 1200 ftlb @100 ,mmmmmmm. Of course there's always the 312-155 and jacketed sp,HP and FMJ at 123-125 for the kids . Squirrels - deer. Sounds like a winner to me.

The Howa 1500 is the same as a Weatherby Vanguard. Darn good rifles for a good bit less money than a Weatherby.

I have one in 223 on the way. If I like it I'm considering getting another and rebarrel to 30-223.
