10/16 - Die Adjustments
When setting up a die that influences a depth or measurement such as a bullet seating die, how much change in length does one revolution of the die body or adjusting screw produce

One turn of the die body = .04166, I don't know the thread pitch on the adjusting screw, I'll check on it.

I did a barrel swap on a Ruger Blackhawk a couple of years ago. Barrel threads are 24 TPI also. I got the sights square but had a .025 cylinder gap. A friend with a lathe saved the day. She shot pretty good with the big gap.

I came back to this topic concerning the "Adjusting Screw". In an email response several years ago Lee had told me that the screw had the same pitch of 14 but the math never worked out. I measured the pitch today and I calculate 18 from length measurements over one inch of adjustment. I put a screw on a Powder Through Expanding Die, used the 30 Carbine die as the hole through the die was a perfect fit for the shaft on my caliper and left little wiggle room. I measured through the bottom of the die with the shaft of the caliber resting inside the cap of the screw. Anyway, there was .390" adjustment over the available 7 revolutions. .390/7 = .0557. From there I looked at the even pitches and 18 is .0555" per rotation which pretty much hits it on the head.
So the way I figure it, the die body moves .071" (14 pitch) per revolution and the screw .056" (18 pitch).

Just added this info to my notebook. Thanks. I'd never taken the time to figure that out. I just tweaked and tweaked and got frustrated then tweaked some more.
