Prefered action
A few weeks ago I stated I prefer a bolt action rifle. A couple days ago I was standing in front of the gun cabinet, found myself work the action on a Remington 700 but then noticed the lever actions out numbered the bolt action.
I played with a lever action for a while. I decided I do prefer a lever action for most shooting.
The break open 45 70 Henry is going to sell will be fun at the range.

Re: Prefered action
Me I like pumps, levers, and semi autos. I think in that order but my love interests change as my needs do.

Re: Prefered action
Bolt is my first option and any other rifle I purchase in the future will probably be bolt. I have a Marlin .30-30 which I used for hunting and where lever is easy to use, I find it a PAIN for bench shooting. I also have a 10/22 which is semi-auto and the only reason I have it is because it is pretty accurate.
If all else fails--look for the obvious

Re: Prefered action
I don't favor any.
I do shy from DA revolvers but I'm sure I'll learn.

Re: Prefered action
I'm pretty much an equal opportunity shooter. I shoot a falling block rifle, a handful of semiautos, a revolving carbine, a double shotgun, a bolt action pistol, and a muzzleloader.

Re: Prefered action
I have an assortment of bolt actions, lever actions, front suffers and semiautos. I've killed more deer with a lever gun than anything else probably because of the areas I usually hunt. Next would be my .50 caliber poor boy flintlock.
All except the Model 70 are military bolt actions, my favorite to shoot is the 6.5 Carcano (Beretta) and it is an accurate shooter. Casting and reloading for it has been a hoot!

Re: Prefered action
I prefer lever actions on rifles and pump actions on shotguns. Semi auto is cool, but there I like the long recoil actions the most... which might be a reason why I neither own a lot of semi autos, nor am successful in shooting them
Guns for me are some kind of technical art form. Maybe that's the reason why I prefer such strange and outdated designs: Volcanic style lever actions, Colt Lightning pump, 1897 pump, Browning Auto 5 Shotgun, MARS pistol ... and everything that JMB invented.
