New Avatar, Any Guesses?
Decided it was time for a new avatar and a likely candidate showed up. Any guesses as to what it is?

Re: New Avatar, Any Guesses?
It is a mud dauber nest that has hatched. It was attached way up under my tool bench in the barn, and when I saw it, I thought my grandson must have stuck a toy up there a couple of years back, the kind with the rolly eyes because that is all that I could see, the "eyes" looking out.

I have seen them build their nests in a gun barrel. Luckily seen before shooting.
You must have a lime pile nearby to get the whites of the eyes. I have some sacks of it in my barn, and they will use it to add to their nests. That one is a sure work of art.

Yeah, our country is half limestone and half sandy loam. The hard part for them is finding mud. Unfortunately, I have a pond and lake about 80 yards from the house! That wasn't smart.farmerjim wrote:I have seen them build their nests in a gun barrel. Luckily seen before shooting.
