Had to try some 150's I chose some flat base 150 Hornady Hot Core soft points, CCI LR, PRVI brass and Varget running from 44 to 47 grains in one grain increments. No crimp and seated to groove.Ohio3Wheels wrote: 7.5x55mm Swiss 150 grain Speer BTSP (2022), 40 gr H4198, CCI LR to light it, Norma case. If April stops acting like January I'll get the range maybe later this week.

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
Hopefully we can swap reports on the 150s. These Speer were some I've had laying around for a long time ('90-'91). Put them through a couple of 308 bores, but for some reason never tried the Swiss so we shall see.

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
Report follows.
Varget, 150 grain Hornady HCSP, CCI LR, PRVI brass, OAL 2.915. no crimp
44.0 grns. avg. 2,523 fps, SD 10.72, spread 23
45.0 grns. avg. 2,570 fps, SD 20.46, spread 55
46.0 grns. avg. 2,619 fps, SD 21.21, spread 52
47.0 grns. avg. 2,687 fps, SD12.14, spread 33
44.0 was best group but all groups were indicative of some issue with rifle. I would get a cluster of three good shots and then a couple of fliers then it would it would settle down again. Going to have to strip it down and see if something is amiss. Scope mount was solid and scope seemed to be fine so it has to be a rifle issue.
RD if this belongs elsewhere please move.

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
I loaded a few .308 Winchester tonight. I swapped out the .358 Win barrel on my Savage Mod 11 and installed a 24" Shaw barrel in 308 Win.
I've never shot a 308 before. I shot one over the chrono to make sure everything was good. 45gr of Varget and a 150gr Hornady SP gave me 2737 fps.
It was also my first time to use a Lee neck collet sizer. I found a set of the Ultimate dies on ebay for $26 delivered. It was a store return and missing the shell holder and dipper. Otherwise, the set of four dies are like new. I really like that collet neck sizer. No lube.
Hopefully I can shoot it this week sometime.

That is a heck of a deal on the die set! I love the Collet dies, use them for every application that I can. I special ordered on for my Rem 722 chambered in 300 Savage, I like them that much.

That was a great price, but it's going to cost me money. Now I'm going to get a set for every rifle caliber I load for.

Next try for 7.5x55 is loaded. This time I am using 168 grain Hornady Match HPBT over 44-48 grains of H4350. One grain increments. OAL is 2.992. The K31 has such a short throat designed for the long skinny GP90 bullet. It makes bullet selection and seating even more important.

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
I had a few minutes to myself and loaded a dozen of my limited supply of RD 311-170-RF (gas checked) cast bullets over 30.0 gr of LVR for my 30-30 cast "tests". All previous test rounds have been with IMR4895 and I realized I was getting really short on the bullets and the LVR has to be up in the rotation soon.
I just may have the time late tomorrow afternoon to run them through the chrony ... hopefully making a small pattern on the 50 yd target.
Yep, I'm getting a bit addicted to the idea of cast bullets in the 30-30

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
Good to hear on all counts!
I'm out in the brush right now with my Rio Grande 30-30AI & Speer 130-grain.
I loaded up the remaining brass last night & this morning with my 35-grains if H322, got the rifle sighted in at 100 (90°), did some more chores, and here I sit. These snake boots sure are hot! A couple hogs out in this corner I hope to run across before long.
