Memory Lane
Just for fun take a look at this old gun rag PDF magazine: https://gunsmagazine.com/wp-content/upl ... /G0862.pdf
The advertisement the prices the articles just reminded me of my kind of "xxx" (won't let me type the p word) when I was a kid. Actually it's still my favorite kind of P word.
If anyone know where I can download a PDF Herter's catalogI promise to be nice to nice to you and say nice things and upvote everything you post here and ......

Re: Memory Lane
Well, I was gonna to just glance over the link. But I wound up spending quite a while looking over the entire magazine. I remember a lot of the ads that I drooled over as a teenager. And the prices! Thanks Boone!!

Re: Memory Lane
Yep, '62 was a bit before my shooting career started ('68), but I remember some of the same ads from later issues. I remember wearing out a Herter's catalog and really wanted a Herter's 401 Powermag SA. But I was starting a marriage and was trying to be responsible (didn't work)...

Re: Memory Lane
Have not seen a Herter"s catalog since about 1972. I worked for the Forest Service during that time in the small community of John Day Oregon. Folks bought a lot of "stuff" through Herters in those days especially when living in out of the way places.

Yeah, me too. Those were the days. The world was ahead of me. Also, an interesting article on Afghanistan.

Re: Memory Lane
thanks for showing this old magazine, way cool,
i was born in May 1962
well the prices look good but,
just think about how much the average pay check was in 1962,
still, a great magazine and for sure interesting to see,
thanks again
