Re: Gun Names
Dad had a model 12 dubbed "Widowmaker" .
He shot someplace around 5,000 birds from English house sparrows to swans (legally even), dove , quail , pheasant , chucker ,sage hen , ducks , and geese ,
Never had one that felt like like a name . I've had a few that feel like there's a hundred stories buried away .
Miss April and Miss September , I guess a pair of 1917 S&W made in 1918 . Ms April is well travelled having spent WWII in England as a lend/lease . Soon she will have a new barrel for her Schofield ream .

Re: Gun Names
Back in the early 90s when I got my 40-65 Sharps a friend with a "soft" shoulder wanted to shoot it so I allowed. His reaction was "wow what a thumper!" and it kinda stuck. Other than that no.

Re: Gun Names
I once had a .45 caliber flintlock that gave me fits. It wouldn't consistently fire. I kept trying different "fixes" and it never really got any better. I gave it several names, most of which are not fitting for this forum.
The worse part was my neighbor that lived across the creek from me would see me getting frustrated at the back of the house and laugh and holler at me. I eventually found someone to change the touch hole so it would fire more reliably and sold it.

Re: Gun Names
No specific names, but I do have "my old pal", "fun gun", "go to", or "P.O.S."...
I used to call my Garand "Baby" until one time I choked up on the stock when shooting off a bench and smacked my nose with my thumb hard enough to make my eyes water...

Been there with more than just the Garand! You'd think I'd learn after all this time .mikld wrote:No specific names, but I do have "my old pal", "fun gun", "go to", or "P.O.S."...
