Safety disk powder measure
No I don’t mean auto disk! It’s a safety disk powder measure. It appears to be a bench mounted version of an auto disk. I don’t know how old it is but I know it’s going back there. It has a micro disk included. I just acquired it it appears to work fine I would like to know if anybody has an idea if you can replace the hopper because I’m sure Lee no longer has any parts for this. It appears as if the Autodesk pro should fit. I haven’t taken my auto disk pro apart to verify this yet as I just acquired it today . it certainly looks like the same mechanism except this is a lever operated as opposed to case activated powder measure. Anyone out there have any information on this like maybe how long ago it was made or when it was discontinued by Lee? I’m kind of excited about this because there’s been several times I would like to of used my order desk and not have it case activated. Anyway any information would be greatly appreciated. It certainly appears to be an oldie but goodie

Re: Safety disk powder measure
Yeah, I had one. It is now in Germany with Fydor.

It uses the standard Auto Disk hopper, not the Pro.

Thanks, Do you know when Lee made these? I’m thinking 1990s?

Probably so. I think they still have the instructions on their website.Poppy42 wrote:Thanks, Do you know when Lee made these? I’m thinking 1990s?

I thin I’ll call Lee tomorrow and see if I can get a new hopper.

Re: Safety disk powder measure
Well I just tried the base and the hopper off my autodisk pro on the safety disk. It fits and works fine. I just don’t know if I’m up for spending 30 bucks for an upgrade on a powder measure from the 90s. I’m up for suggestions if anybody’s got any ideas or maybe has a broken Autodesk pro with a decent base and hopper they want to get rid of.

Re: Safety disk powder measure
Interesting thread/tool. I immediately thought of how to modify an Auto-disk for manual operation. Couldn't find any good pics of an Auto-disk to get an idea of the modification, then remembered I already have 4 powder measures and I only use 2 of the, (PPM and C-H)...
Watched the video and liked the simple operation of the Safety Disk.

Yep. I’ve used an auto desk for a while and I’m real happy with the consistency in the throws, except with unique . Which I will use a lot of. It Can be kind of a bother when you have to throw a charges into case then dump the case to measure it. It’ll be nice to have one bench mounted.
