Yote with SMLE Scout
Very foggy this morning. Taking care of chores at about 8 am with 3 young deer at house feeder. I notice a mature coyote coming in downwind of them about 200 yards out, up a pole-line that provides service to my house. Based on his behavior, I feel that there is at least one other coming up through the brush behind the feeder as a flanking force on the deer's only escape route.
Unlucky for the coyote, my SMLE Scout is ready to go just inside my reloading room door. I shout, standing off-hand and wasn't really sure if I would connect given I haven't been shooting a lot as of late. He dropped like a rock when the PPU 180-grain SPBT struck him square in the chest (he was head on to me). I took the range finder with me to bounce it off the door of my garage; 151-yards!

Yep, those are some really clean, white teeth. No doubt he was on a good diet.

Re: Yote with SMLE Scout
So, what do you do with them after you pop one? Bury it so it don't stink up the place or is there a market for the pelt? I recently found out we have them on the family property up in Allen parish so we might just be taking a few of them out.

Kind of overkill ain't it ? Coming from a guy that killed one with 1475 fps 1-1/16oz load of steel Bs capable of putting all 105 pellets in her inside 35 yd , 60 or so out where I hit her .
Well done .

This was the nicest pelt I've seen, but like the others, tossed to the buzzards.az2vet wrote:So, what do you do with them after you pop one? You're right, no such thing as overkill. Fawning starts in three months. I saw another yesterday, but it was across the fence. It was closer to what I normally see. Willie E. Nice work!
The coyotes are really getting bad around here in southern Ohio too.
