Howdy Lee hand loaders! Back in 1990, I bought my first center fire rifle, a Winchester 94AE in 30WCF. While I’ve been casting and loading bullets for my 45 ACP and 45 Colt for 15+ years, about six years ago, I ventured into cast bullets for my Marlin 336 chambered in 30-30. I bought a 170gr Lee mold when I figured out that my 336 was made in 1953, and it has the old school Ballard rifle grooves. I found that with powder coated gas checked bullets, I was able to push them over 2000fps with great accuracy.
My first foray into hunting with cast bullets was a happy accident. I did not set out to hunt Texas’ abundant feral hogs that day. In fact, I just wanted to Shoot some water jugs and test out the cast and powder coated bullets, and test them I did!
My water jug test of the cast, powder coat 170gr Lee was filmed the same day, at least five years ago, but it might have been a year or two before I uploaded it to YouTube.

Nice. I have the Ranch Dog 172-ish (before PC and GC) mold for Ballard riffling for my 1951 336RC. Just started powder coating myself.
