"Floppy" Mold Blocks

Post by Ohio3Wheels »

The other day I came across an old thread about the then new style Lee mods and some problems the OP was having getting them to close correctly. I too have such a beast a 452-252SWC that would really like to get working.

I saw a thread over at "cast boolits" where a guy layed out his method of fixing old abused and worn out Lee molds, unfortunately I didn't book mark it. Anyway he used green loctite to secure the blocks to the hands by first clamping the blocks in correct allignment and then in essence cementing them to the handles.

Has any one here tried this and which green loctite did you use? I'm leaning toward the ones listed as high temp high viscosity.

TIA

That might work but hope one doesn't come unglued as it might not line up again. What I do with the very first mold I abused is to hold them straight up and then close as this is what Lee recommends.
