Yes RD still this side of grass. I have been away most of the summer and just no opportunity to shoot anything. Will be awhile before I can remedy that. I may try some cast again in the Parker Hale .303 but my first lead work is going to be cast in the 30-06. C309-180-R and C309-15-F. I think the 150 should make a good hunting round with that nice meplat. Have a line on getting some local beeswax too for my pan lube.

Put together 20 rounds of 223 with the Barnes Varmit Grenade and 26 grains of H335 (Hodgdon starting load). The current black rifle has a 5.56 chamber and a 1 in 7 twist. Depending on which expert you want to believe they are either going to blow up upon exiting the muzzle or they'll be just fine. Pragmatist that I am I await testing.

Are those heavy?

I use 1:8" so I can successfully do 52-68 or so.

30 Carbine and 35-30 just not working out with cast bullets. Both have been minute of 8.5" X 11" at 50 yards and I don't feel it will get any better.

Started with the 35-30, going back to the Speer 180-grain HCFN. Hope to get it shot in tomorrow morning as I have hogs waiting.

Also prepped the 30 Carbine brass and figured out the incremental loads to start working with the PPU 110-grain SP. The Hornady on the left is one of the last I have and thought I would give the PPU a shot as I like the reviews that I've seen on its expansion. A bit more exposed lead on the nose

I like the look of that PPU....and is it half the price of the Hornady like in some other cases?

The Hornady runs about 25¢ a bullet, the Privi Partizan 17. Those are prices through Grafs. If the PPU shoots well, I will order 1K of the which run it down to 15¢ a bullet.

Nope, light 36 grains. I've run everything from 52 grain match kings up through 75 grain Hornady match with varying degrees of success. None of them were less than minute of ground hog with iron sights at 100 yards. It's shown a preference for the heavier boat-tails, but of the ones tested they're all paper puncher types not recommended for game. So we'll see how these work.
