Re: .30-30 reloading
TLC311165GC is up and running. Can't find anyone with a Lyman .310 size die AND and a top punch AND .30 gas checks in stock at the same place.

Why a .310 Sizer? Have you slugged your rifle? Most Marlins need a .311" bullet.GasGuzzler wrote:TLC311165GC is up and running. Can't find anyone with a Lyman .310 size die AND and a top punch AND .30 gas checks in stock at the same place.

A .310 is easily opened up to .311. Not so easy going the other way.

Re: .30-30 reloading
I've never slugged a rifle. The instructions are always confounding. The required items are never at hand. I've made 95%+ on every test I've guessed at.

Re: .30-30 reloading
parts needed
fishing weight slightly larger than bore
hammer
¼ wooden dowel cut into 6 inch lengths
grease or oil
calipers or micrometer
I lightly tap on the lead (on the cement floor) with the hammer once or twice then grease or oil it lightly.
Set the lead on the barrel and gently tap it into the barrel with one of the short pieces of dowel. When you get close to the muzzle add another dowel to the mix.
Tap it all the way through.
Wipe off the oil or grease
Measure it at the widest spots.
Clean your gun, (did you see how much crap just came out of the barrel???? Really????) ;-)

Switch solvents , instant filth , get it clean , go back to the original solvent , more gunk , get it clean use a 3rd solvent ( this is usually where I'm like why is everything blue ?) get it clean , more gunk from #2 .

Re: .30-30 reloading
See? I'm done at part 1. I abhore fishing. Not sure you can still buy lead sinkers here. I haven't been fishing since 1984. Maybe I should try it again. I have one friend that's a guide and one that keeps getting busted for over-limit. LOL
Mold drops well, GCs in stock now, .310 sizer and top punch in hand. I have several powders but don't recall what I'd like to try first. I have brass I shot plus a reloader friend gave me enough brass to last forever considering he traded me into some LRPs and from my last experience I won't be touching this beast of as much as it deserves.

Re: .30-30 reloading
I have six "rifle" powder choices (IMR4198, IMR4227, IMR4064, W748, H335, CFE223) but I think I'm gonna go 10.0gr Unique because I've yet to find another use for it. After complaining about it for years it'll likely work well in .30-30 AND .45ACP (about to try that too).
Pics later....sizing lube drying waiting on Redding neck sizer (once fired in my gun Winchester brass).
