VA Medical Services

Just spent 2 day in our local VA hospital. The old ticker just wasn't ticing properly, Afib. Seems I'm not as unbreakable as I thought. After 2 days of VA medical/hospital care that old pump is behaving again. Got home last night to a dog who thought he was very neglected. That dog lies a lot. ;) My son was taking great care of him.

The reason for this comment is because there is a lot of bad press about the VA medical system. I personally know several guy that think they are terrible. I only been using this benefit for a couple of years. Change over due to the requirements of Obummer care. I for one found them to be FANTASTIC. The care I was given was top notch, prompt, courteous and friendly.

The other reason I posted this was to let everyone that my dog is a liar.

Good to hear you are on the mend Dan! I wish the VA Hospital System was closer, I would use them when needed but it is a 2 and a half hour drive.

All dogs are liars. I catch mine all the time.

This trip got my kids attention and they decided to do Daddy's Day a bit early or as they said before "you kick the bucket!". Here are a couple of the gifts they gave me.

Good to hear you're ok. The small town I live near has a VA clinic that has been a God-send for me. The closest VA hospital is a 90 minute drive.
I have also used the Veterans Choice program for seeing specialists (eye doctors, etc) who are closer to me. The care has been top notch.
I wait for my dogs to nap before I leave the house so I don't have to put up with their sulking.

Good to hear that you're getting along and are on the mend. Gotta' watch that wild living and all that ice cream. +guns .....I tried to get into the VA system a few years back but they told me my retirement was to high and I didn't qualify. Told them I figured a Veteran was a Veteran and the amount of money I received monthly from working my entire life should have no bearing on whether I received VA medical benefits or not. They didn't agree. Guess who won that one. Doesn't matter I guess, medicare with a plan F is as good an insurance as we ever had, even from my employer before retirement. Better in fact. I do have a few friends that use the VA and haven't heard any complaints from them other than it's about two hrs. to the facility in Portland, Or. but there is a clinic about 40 miles away. Kinda hard to get in there from what I hear though. Glad you were able to get good medical attention and are doing well, and don't hang out to much with Larry, I've heard he'll lead you astray and is a sure bet to get you into trouble... and I agree, dogs are natural born liars, although one of mine is fairly honest but he'll never admit to making that awful smell....

Being bachelors it's a tossup who makes the awful smells around this abode.

My dog is so proud of his efforts to save my life, innumerable times, by those hideous postman, UPS and Fedex men outside my door.

My dog isn't a big dog but he shrinks to invisible when it's time to find him at bath time.
