Don't feel to bad. Your casts are really good and I also have melted them in the oven.

Thanks Macd. I am very happy with the results. This is how we learn. Today I will try a few at 350 F for 15 minutes and keep a close watch on them. The bullets are actually harder than I expected too. I don't have a hardness tester but when I smashed one with a big hammer to check the coating it was a very hard bullet. I am really very happy with the entire process. I will tumble lube some various ways over the next week or so, just to see what it does. But I like the powder coating so far, even with the failure. The Lee 4-20 pot is excellent and worth every penny.

Johnny, one problem with the cheaper ovens is temperature control. You might want to get a decent oven thermometer and calibrate the oven's temperature settings. I am surprised that a new oven got hot enough to cause the bullets to slump like that. I would think something over 500 F would be needed.

Make smoke,

The liquid Alox did a nice job. I did a light coat, dried overnight on wax paper, sized and then a second light coat, just like the instructions say. They came out great and shot well with no leading. They smoke a bit.

The powder coat came out well, I sized after coating, they did not smoke or lead and I like it. I can see myself doing both. The powder coat has some issues, but I will do more of it. I did not do a "45/45/10" lube or any other variations of tumble lube yet.

I have a TL.452 RN mold coming and will make those bullets this weekend if the weather is nice. I am going to get a second powder too. I have not settled on a company yet. Either Eastwood or Powder by the Pound I think. I want another red or maroon color. The better powder should work even better. Harbor freight red was very good for me though. Still tinkering with the oven temp and time.

I also need to make more ingots. I love this bullet making. I wish I had an indoor casting area. If I ever move, that will be a priority. I LOVE MAKING BULLETS!

Nice looking boolits! I have the itch to try powder coating but I'm not there yet.
