Lee Loader

An acquaintance of mine has some Lee Loaders and is looking for fair price suggestions for what he has.
357 mag from 1974
7mm rem mag 1997
12 ga. 3" from 1969
Lee Target Model Loader for 6mm from 1975
They all look to be in really nice shape.
Any thoughts?

Like anything else that's "used" .... they are worth (to you) whatever you're willing to pay. To me, they would be worth no more than about 30 bucks each - not for an "investment", but a useful tool.

Also, I would be interested in the .357 if complete, good shape & complete box.
I been missing "pounding out" 38's & .357's the last few months, dont know why?

Kits that are still in production would be worth something less than the current retail of a new kit. You can check what kits of a specific caliber have sold for on eBay by using the "Advanced" search and selecting "Completed" auctions/sales.

Overall, I would say that the prices have gotten soft for a lot of the kits. Collectors drove the prices, not actual reloaders, and many don't have the money they once did.

Probably the most valuable kit right now is the 12 Gauge 3" if it is the small kit $55 to $65 depending on how the condition compares with the similar kits listed. If it is the complete kit, in the long box, about $15 more.

Kits with near-obsolete cartridges, like the 6mm Rem, are not selling well at all. About $20 to $25. One very nice kit only sold for $15.

These amounts are about ¾ of what they were selling for eighteen months ago.

It's weird because if you have an odd-ball it could be worth nothing if no one is collecting or a whole lot if they are...regardless of anyone actually using it. I agree the 12 ga 3" is worth the most. I bought a vintage .410 ga because of their value combined with the low price I found it for...but at least I bought it at the same time I bought my .410.

I believe that the 410 Kit remains the most valuable, but when they start selling for what a complete MEC Jr. sells for (or better), %@*&$?

No one wants to carry an MEC around in their bug out bag. The only other kit I have is a cardboard era .45 Colt kit.

Well, there are alternatives to the kit or gauge.

I have one of those 12ga 3 in lee loaders that I bought in the 60's. I think I'll try to find it and put it on ebay.

I bought my 410 Pacific 155 for less than what the Lee Loaders were going for at the time. Some of the most expensive ones that I have seen sell is a 10ga magnum, was well over $200. Thank you for your replies. He has since sold them.
