3 years ago a little girl in central Ohio was killed by a muzzleloader from 2.5 miles away. Couple that with ballistics that put the latest greatest 3.5" 12ga with saboted slugs in 458win mag territory and all of a sudden a lever action 44mag doesn't seem so offensive. Just depends on who is telling the story, and who is listening! Sure doesn't help the anti's argument either when other states that changed from shotgun to rifle haven't had a change in fatalities.

Not quite there yet... I'm not sure how the process goes. According to this article, The Ohio Wildlife Council will vote on it April 9th. http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/ohio-dee ... ls-amended

http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/straight ... -deer-ohio We got it!! Great, haven't even shot anything w/ my Rossi 92 in 480 Ruger, and now with these new regs I've got the itch to get a lever gun in 444 marlin. It's a viscious cycle.

This is great news! From pistol cartridges to straight wall cartridges!

It is a viscous cycle and I suspect a lot of Ohio's will move through that cycle with great joy as others in this country have been free to do!

The 444 Marlin. My favorite rifle even though I haven't been paying it a lot of attention over the last few years. It knows the secret though. If it comes to pass that I only have one rifle, my 1972 Marlin 444T will be it. Here is my rifle after it was back from a professional refinish.

Of course, your 480 Ruger has been in the ready so may it should get a turn too!

That is always good. I just sold a couple of leverguns and they sold well.

This should also trigger sales of any bolt rifles chambered in these cartridges like the Ruger 77 in both 357 and 44 Mag. JES has had a steady flow of rebored/rechambered Savage 340s on GunBroker. He has taken these 30-30 Wins out to their parent cartridge, the 38-55 Win. The Remington 788 in 44 Mag comes to mind as well but they are hard to find and costly.

nice 444 rd and I agree it will not just be levers. Anything that falls into the laws caliber specs and 3 round limit.
