Yes, but I'm that tired of dripping lead splatter.

What is the big aluminum or ss pot above the rcbs heater for?

I believe it's a part of a ventilation duct.

I'm sure the RCBS unit is a Cadillac melting pot. However I've had 2 Lee 4-20's and found them to be very excellent value. As with most tools there is a learning curve. Here are some of the things I've learned.

1. When fluxing be sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the pot. Crud can build up there and find it's way into the outlet.
2. Cleaning out the pot a couple of times a years is important. I do this by emptying it and once cooled bringing water to a boil in while scrubbing it with a small wire brush. Be sure that the rod tip and the hole are clean. (discard this contaminated water as you would for your dross.... this is an individual decision as to what is proper)
3) Add a dab of anti-seize to the tip of the rod and rotate in the hole.
4) A quick 1/4 twist of the rod once in awhile will stop the occasional drip. I use an old zink WW on the top as pictured. Yes it's time for a cleaning. ;)

Great googla moogla. That is one dirty pot. I've never let mine get even close to that dirty and it will leak like there is a second hole in the bottom.

That description is a good one to describe my loading bench, heck my whole shop right now.

Have you seen Lyman's new smelting pot? I think if I went a couple of my bass tournaments I will give one of these a shot.

I guess it's just me, but I like the Lee Loader forum 'cause there is no Lee bashing, at least none until "pay up sucker". If I wanted to read about an RCBS tool and how much better (?) it is than my Lee equipment, I would go to any one of a dozen Lee Hater forums. Personally I think these kind of posts are just "nanny, nanny, nanny, mine is better than your's is, nannay, nanny, nanny...", bragging and/berating other equipment.

"Yeah man, I got this CRG pot and it's so much better than my Lee junk was..."
