Greetings, Has anyone used the "Collet Crimp Die" on Berry's plated 38/357 bullets?
I have used a tone of them in 45ACP & 9mm without any problems but, I have seen
an extremely light burr on the inside of a case cut the plating, or just a slight bit to
much roll crimp & cut through?? So, anyone tried the Collet crimp with plated??..

Ok... Preliminary results. I will post picture when I fix my camera.
Bullet diameter + Case mouth thickness (X 2) = Max case mouth diameter with "NO" flair. Anything after that is crimp.
So far, using Berrys 38 Cal (.357) 125gr Target Hollow point. So far. .009 total crimp, 4.5 thou per side, canular created,
no plating tears. Bullet "Jump" test in wheel gun yet to come. Took everything I had to get them to move with an impact
puller, then, just barley.. More to come, hope this helps...

Re: Lee Collet Crimp Die for .357 plated??
Success
Calling it 9 thou (.009) total created cannular (crimp) collet crimp die.
Accuracy 100% acceptable from a 2 1/4" barrel.
No velocities measured.
No bullet creep. (measured)
No stuck plating material in barrel.
No plating material found anywhere in shooting lane.
All recovered bullets had there plating intact. (A few tears from rocks in the dirt)
So far so good. gonna take 'em to .010 total & see how that does as far as tears then,
go back down until I get creep then, I will try the thick plated ones & see what I get..
