The New/Old Lee Automator
Apparently it was a "piggy-back" version of the Pro-1000. Lee introduced the Automator around 1989 and discontinued it at the end of 1990 or beginning of 1991 due to low sales. It cost $39.98 and could be used with any single stage press that used standard dies and universal shell holder with a vertical ram. It basically turned your single stage press to a taller Pro1000.

Re: The New/Old Lee Automator
WOW, I didn't know such thing even existed. That would have been a nice piece of equipment for me, since a single stage and the automator are better to store than a single stage and a pro 1000.

I'd forgotten if I'd forgotten about the Automator. Thanks for the post.

Re: The New/Old Lee Automator
Fyodor, I got my 2 buy calling Lee last summer! They still had stock on the shelves and they sold it to me for the 39.98 price.
In operation it is far more rigid than a similar equipped Pro-1000. I have no trouble running 300 to 400 rounds per hour! The new carrier's seem to be less prone to priming issues.

@44vaquero:
The carrier is not included. Does the recent pro1000 carrier fit? What about the case feeder? It looks different, or is it just perspective?

Re: The New/Old Lee Automator
Fyodor, The Automator is capable of using nearly all the Pro-1000 accessories. Yes the case feed bar is bent, in use the case feeding action is fast and positive. The case feeders themselves are the same.
62chevy, the quick soft count was 30 units on hand ten days ago! I have seen your bench, right now you do not have room for another press anyway!

Re: The New/Old Lee Automator
Thanks! Can you tell me what I need in addition to the device itself?
I need a shellplate carrier from the pro 1000 and a set of dies. I guess I also need a case feeder?

Re: The New/Old Lee Automator
Fyodor,
You will need a complete carrier (they can be purchased for specific calibers), a case feeder (Lg/Sm) and a 3 hole turret head in addition to your dies.
A pro auto-disk powder measure and riser is also required and if your dies are not Lee you will need the appropriate powder thru/expander die.
