I have been casting since my 20's and am now 78.
I have always ladle cast and have always had a 10% rejection rate due to what I call slag inclusions.
It doesn't make any difference how much you flux the melt. I always get them.

Was wondering if anyone here ladle casts and what their rejection rate is?

I only weigh for a mean and it if it is for some particular important task. I throw more away for cosmetic flaws than weight. My weights run right about 2% , so under a gr on 22s and less than 3 gr on the 265 gr 45s I've seen over 3 gr on the 38s for the 158s but was able to fix my techniques. I'm told that the Sharps buffalo gun guys are generally happy with 2% but they're hurling Volkswagens. If I'm w/in a grain or 2 I don't sweat it for 7mm ,30 cal,9mm/38/357, and a little more slop for 40 and 45.

I ladle with a Lee dipper and a RCBS 10# pot. The last casting season only 2 pistol bullets got tossed back in. All the .308 win got tossed back 3 times until I added 2% tin to the mix and raised the temp to 775. To be honest when I first started last year most of the bullets went back in the pot.
