My old Lee Loader
I think I only shoot 4 or 5 hundred 38 spec a year so I have just been buying the 38 spec reloads at the range. Jim loads thousands of them there on a 650, it irritates him when I tell him I like my Loadmaster more than the 650. Recently I came across my old 38 spec Lee Loader the next time I go to the range I am going to put together some 38s using the Lee Loader. I figure 5 rounds will be enough of a walk down memory lane for me. I sure loaded a lot of them with that Lee Loader in the late 70s.

Re: My old Lee Loader
I have 2 Lee loaders in the "ah doody kit " 32 Remchester and 357 ,I'd like to have a 45 Colts and a 308 or 7mm 08 but the kit is a 16' trailer so there's room for a press and dies . I think I might put a hand press on my wish list.

Re: My old Lee Loader
Yesterday morning, I taught a new handloader the art with the Lee Loader for his 308 Win. This is a fellow that will shoot at best 20 rounds a year and when he buys ammo he will buy five boxes at once. He got worried last year because we had not seen 308 Win, like most, for six going on seven years.
His intent was just to load for his same level of shooting but I bet it moves beyond that.

Re: My old Lee Loader
I used this 38 spec loader until getting a turret press. Then gave the loader to a old friend that continued to use it until he passed about 10 years ago. Miss that guy. He was satisfied with the Lee loader, He returned it to me himself, not long before passing.
I guess the speed you need varies with how much time you have. If I would have stuck with the turret press until retirement it's speed would be plenty fast for me now. But I really like my loadmasters.

Re: My old Lee Loader
It's funny how retirement slows you down. I would have stayed with the Lee Loader if not for my Wife hating the noise. And just think it only took 75 rounds to pay for the Lee Loader and another 100 rounds to pay for the cast equipment.
