first post in Lee Loaders
Well, I'll start. I got my first Lee Loader in 1969, I believe, to get me started reloading for my 3" .38. I learned all the principles of reloading with that small set, and the instruction sheet. I presently own 4 Lee Loaders (along with 3 bench mounted and 2 portable presses). Sometimes I'll get one out when I feel "retro" or just a few rounds to reload, but I prefer using my .38 Special set with an arbor press over setting up my single stage with "normal" dies. One of my favorites is my 30-30 set. I have a single shot in 30-30 and it takes less time to reload a box of 20 than to set up a press, powder measure and scale and load up a box on my press. Best thing since smokeless powder...

I've never used one of these. They look pretty easy but I don't know if I would ever trust a dipper without also using a scale. I keep thinking of trying one in .30-30 and seeing if I could reload a few right there at the range.

I've done that many a time. With just a bit of practice, it is amazing how accurate the dippers are.Maximumbob54 wrote:...I keep thinking of trying one in .30-30 and seeing if I could reload a few right there at the range.

Re: first post in Lee Loaders
how do you do the inside of the .30-30 case mouth with the Lee Loader kit?

Re: first post in Lee Loaders
sorry ... I was in a bit of a rush between projects. With the Lee Loader, do you need to use the basic flaring tool (or nice rounded needle nose pliers) to lightly flare the case mouth to get a bullet started?
Between work and thinking about neck sizing only for the .30-30, I guess I had the collet die die mandrel on my mind (when I should have had boundary corners and processing gps vectors on my mind).
The Lee Loader does only "neck size" .30-30, doesn't it? Still need to flare a bit to accept a bullet?

Re: first post in Lee Loaders
I have not had any issue with jacketed or .310 gas checked, lead bullets. I do chamfer and deburr the case. If you shot plain base lead bullets you would probably need to do something different. Lee makes custom flaring tools like those in their pistol kits, but special orders and not being excepted until they get caught up.mr surveyor wrote:The Lee Loader does only "neck size" .30-30, doesn't it? Re: first post in Lee Loaders
does it full length size, or just neck size? I was thinking the Lee Loader tools only neck sized rifle brass, but I really do not know.
