C312-155-2R 6 cavity mold - modifying for 30/30
I have several end mills in the range 6mm up to 7mm and I was considering milling a flat end to the mold probably with the 6.5mm end mill, giving me a 6.5 mm (0.264" in old money) meplat.
Obviously the machining won't be as nice as Lee's but has anyone done this in the past.
FWIW my press easily handles the resize from 312 to 309 though I was considering getting a 310 resizing die.
Any thoughts, anyone?

Works fine in 30-30 . Lever guns should work fine as 2 shooters . One chambered one in the mag . I don't have that in the bolt gun .

The 155 grn heads also respond well to 15 grains of 2400.

Regarding size, depends on the rifle. I don't see where you said if it's a 336 or other. Most Marlins want a .310" minimum.
Only two ways to find out.

There's nothing wrong with the 312-165 RD it costs twice what the Lee 6 does in only a 5 cavity from NOE but it works very well in all of the 30 cal I've shot it in including 30-30 .
It's a big flat nose that needs a little "extra" leade in 308 to keep the check in the neck , non-issue in 06'& 30-30 . It was designed for the Marlin . There's a guy here that can give you all the particulars about and probably real load data too .

I would have suggested the Ranch Dog mold I have for .30-30 RBH mentions above but it's a molar from a yardbird. I forgot about the NOE copy.
The load data for the 312-165 mold is much different because it's intended design is full power killing while wearing a gas check. MUCH different than a 155 over A2400.

I attach an image of the set of handles I adapted for the mold, the welding clamp cost the equivalent of $8 and I spent 5 minutes with an angle grinder fettling it to fit, pressure to keep the mold closed is much greater than I can manage with my hands weakened by carpal tunnel syndrome.
